We're Such Geeks
We are such geeks. Really. We’re a couple of guys who like to play games and want a place where we can share some of our thoughts. Actually, one of us is a professional geek that has been writing software for decades. The other is a student and math and science wiz. I guess that qualifies.
We love to talk about video games. We explore the ones we play, trying to figure out why some appeal to us when others that are similar don’t. We like to discuss the importance of story lines and game mechanics. We discuss graphics and gaming engines. And now, when we have the energy or desire to actually write our thoughts, we have a place to post and share our ideas. I hope we find enough readers and commenters to spur even further conversation.
Certainly there are a lot of technology, gadget, and gaming blogs, so you may ask yourself why you would spend time following ours. Basically, I think it comes down to our perspective; that is, the perspective of a couple of everyday guys. We’re not professional journalists. We’re not professional bloggers. We’re not full-time gamers. We simply play the games and follow reviews like everybody else. We’re the guys that buy gameinformer and wired magazines, not the guys that write them. And that is our advantage. We present the man-on-the-street perspective; we give the point of view of guys who actually buy their games and play them for fun.
Because we play for fun and write to share, we have no ties to particular games or vendors. Sure, we generally play on Xbox, so our comments will strongly reflect that experience. But we also play on the PC, Wii, DS; I even owned (and still have) a Mattel Intellivision; so we draw upon a pretty wide range of gaming experience.
Come on geeks. Join in. Follow us. Tell us what you think.
